An access floor system is an elevated floor area upon another floor, typically a concrete slab in a building. The space between the raised floor and the slab accommodates building services such as power cables, data, telecom, environmental control and HVAC ducting, fire detection and suppression, and security services.

Removable access floor panels make it fast and easy to reach these underfloor systems for maintenance purposes, and to accommodate churn by allowing services to be easily re-routed.
